Sleeping Beauty

Everyone's favourite Geordie Pantomime Company are back this year at Gateshead International Stadium with a new show but all the same fun and laughs that have come to form part of your Christmas tradtition year on year.

A truly local company, we've been producing Christmas pantomimes in the region since 1995, employing a host of North East talent both in front of the curtain and behind the scenes to bring you our unique brand of traditional family festive entertainment.

You'll know us best for our long-standing Christmas residency at Newcastle's Tyne Theatre & Opera House, which was our home until the end of last year's run.

This year, we're very excited to be in a brand new venue and to be responsible for being Gateshead's first and only professional Christmas Panto. In a unique opportunity, we are creating a bespoke indoor theatre at Gateshead International Stadium which will seat 800 people per performance. The venue will offer a host of facilities to enhance your visit to the panto and with hundreds of onsite parking spaces as well as excellent public transport links and a dedicated metro station for the Stadium, it will be easier than ever to visit the panto this Christmas!

Backed by several large regional companies and enterprises including Gateshead Council, Metro Radio, Intu Metrocentre and Premier Transport, we're looking forward to bringing you an even better Panto experience this Christmas! Check out other parts of our website for details of children's parties, corporate hosting, and group transport offers.

We've got loads of familiar faces in this year's production as well as a couple of new ones and of course our show will feature our "World Famous" 12 Days of Christmas that is everyone's highlight!

So, Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, please take your seats for NewcastlePanto's 2017 Christmas production of Sleeping Beauty!

This year Newcastle Panto present the enchanting story of Beauty and The Beast.
In a small French village, the beautiful and intelligent Belle ignores her suitor, the vain and boorish Gaston, as she cares for her father, eccentric inventor Maurice.
On his way to the fair, Maurice stumbles upon a foreboding castle in the woods, and is thrown into a dungeon by the castle’s occupant: a huge savage beast. Belle comes to rescue her ailing father, and offers to take his place as the Beast’s prisoner. Belle discovers that the castle’s house staff have been transformed into objects by the same magic spell that made their master a beast. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and be loved in return.
As she remains in the castle, Belle and Beast find their apprehension replaced by affection; but Belle misses her father, and the Beast reluctantly allows her to leave.
Gaston, incensed at Belle’s affection for the Beast, leads a mob of townspeople to storm the castle. Belle rushes back in time to confess her love for the Beast, and the spell is broken.
The beast returns to his former self, a handsome young prince and he and Belle marry and live happily ever after.
